South African software-defined radios enter home straight

Reutech Communications is under contract to complete final development, including productionisation and pre-production, of a new family of fast frequency-hopping, digitally encrypted, software-defined radios (SDRs) for the South African National Defence Force (SANDF). The radios have grown out of an earlier software-defined demonstrator programme fulfilled by the then-RDI Communications company to assist in informing the specification of Project Radiate, the SANDF's network-enabled capability development programme.
