Innovative radar and tracking technologies
Reutech's Radar Systems division in Stellenbosch offers highly skilled and multi-disciplinary research and development capabilities in both independent and client partnership product development programs. The company's capabilities in the design and development of electro-mechanical tracking systems has been exercised in well-known projects such as the South African Large Telescope (SALT), Eskom's heliostat tracker development as well as tracking systems for the military market.
The division is currently engaged in two programs in the renewable energy arena. A solar tracker suitable for Photo Voltaic (PV), Concentrated Photo Voltaic (CPV) and Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) applications is under development, whilst a specialised radar is under investigation for the mitigation of the negative effects of Wind Turbine Generators on air traffic radar.
The research and development team in Stellenbosch is furthermore able to develop local Intellectual Property (IP) related to renewable energy projects in conjunction with offshore partners, as well as co-operation with other companies within the Reunert Group for the roll-out of large-scale renewable energy products.
